1908 $2.5 MS65 NGC
As the premier Indian quarter eagle in U.S. coinage history, the 1908 enjoys unflagging demand among both type collectors and 20th century gold specialists. Although this issue is the most plentiful Indian quarter eagle in MS65 after only the 1925-D, such coins are rare in an absolute sense and infrequently offered in today's market. Striking definition is pleasingly sharp for the issue with some typical softness of detail over the eagle's wing feathers - the result of the manner in which the reverse die was engraved. The color is a rich yellow-gold shade, and satiny luster is also seen throughout. With no mentionable distractions and plentiful eye appeal, this coin would fit comfortably into any high-quality collection. (PCGS 7939)
