1810 50C MS62 NGC O-101a, R.1. Early Capped Bust half dollars with exceptional eye appeal are where you find them - few and far between in the marketplace. Many if not most have been dipped to make them brilliant, while others demonstrate artificial toning or, if with original patination, are not particularly attractive. The present coin is a pleasant exception to all of the preceding. The toning is very attractive, nicely blended, changing from silver and gray to iridescent hues as the coin is rotated under a light. The striking is about typical for O-101, some lightness here and there, but on the present piece, quite sharp around the obverse borders, and sharp on nearly all details of the reverse. Within this grade range very few comparable pieces exist in terms of overall quality. (PCGS 6095) 1838 50C Reeded Edge Bust Half Dollars (3) Bust Half Dollars Bust Half Dollars Bust Half Dollars
