Edna and Eugene out for a stroll, circa 1917 signed 'J. Kleitsch' (lower right) oil on canvas 20 x 24in overall: 28 x 32in
Footnotes
Joseph Kleitsch often enjoyed including his wife and son in his compositions. Judging from the size of his son Eugene, this painting was probably painted around 1917. One can begin to see the development of his later style of brushwork in background; small short strokes loaded with paint and color. This work was probably executed while Kleitsch was working in and around Chicago or in Michigan, Edna's home state.
