    Private collection, Southern California

    Guy Rose graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1884 and subsequently moved to San Francisco to study art training at the California School of Design. By September 12, 1888, Rose had enrolled at the Academie Julian in Paris. It is likely that this painting was completed during his time in San Francisco.
