QUAKER MANUSCRIPT.
SPAVORD, SAMUEL. Manuscript on paper, 4 pp recto and verso, folio, [England], c.1755, being "A Vision which Saml. Spavold had when he was in London" dated December 28, 1754, and fragments of another text, bound in modern boards, strengthened at folds without loss, bound out of order.

Spavord [1708-1759] was a Quaker minister who visited New Jersey and Pennsylvania in 1757; he remarks on the pressing urge to tell his Brethren of the vision, "for all that I said before, seem'd no more than the Clearing of the Deck of a Vessel, loaded with some rich Treasure, precious treasure...."
