Few spots at ends, hinges reinforced, spines repaired with apparent loss of publisher's imprints at foot, partially effaced bookplates.

FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, FIRST ISSUE, OF DICKENS' SECOND NOVEL. With fireside version of the final plate rather than the "Church" plate and "Boz" on all 3 title pages. Sadleir 696; Eckel p 51ff.
