Folio (290 x 185 mm). A-3H6 *3I6 3I-3V6 3X8 (-A1 blank). Title within broad woodcut architectural border. Modern calf antique. Title, preliminary and some other leaves dampstained (especially at fore-margins) and frayed, some with edges strengthened.
Bodin is described on the title as "a famous Lawyer, and a man of great Experience in matters of State." He aimed to describe absolute monarchy as the sole means of restoring order from anarchy. STC 3193.
