2 volumes. Folio (413 x 307 mm). xiv, [4] 312; [8], 294 pp. Frontispiece engraving, two-sheet engraved folding map, 76 hand-colored aquatint plates, 3 of which are folding. Period russia, gilt panel, carefully rebacked, red and black gilt-lettered spine labels. Faint foxing or toning, hinges repaired, covers with some minor stray marks, edge wear, an attractive copy.
Provenance: Strathallan (bookplate); Harris Hollin (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION with the dedication to King George the Third and general title. This was originally to be part of a series The History of Principal Rivers of Great Britain, although the project was abandoned after completion of the above work. Abbey Scenery 432; Tooley 102.
