8vo (237 x 145 mm). ix, [1], 206, [1], 8 ad pp. Engraved frontispiece and 18 hand-colored aquatint plates by H. Alken and T.J. Rawlins. Publisher's green cloth, pictorial gilt design to upper cover and spine, all edges gilt, yellow endpapers. Custom morocco pull-off case. Rebacked with original spine laid down, f.f.e.p. starting, some rubbing to gilt, wear to extremities, dust-soiling.
Provenance: Hannah Baker (period gift inscription); Charles Waterman Armour (armorial bookplate).
SECOND EDITION WITH NINE ADDITIONAL PLATES not found in the first edition. First issue, with date at foot of spine. With a hand-colored portrait engraving of John Mytton loosely inserted. Abbey Life 385; Tooley 67.
