Period calf, covers with blind and gilt Greek key panels, rebacked preserving original gilt-decorated spines, a.e.g., gilt dentelles. Wanting half-titles, some light foxing, offset from some plates, each volume with wear to spine.

FIRST EDITION, LARGE PAPER COPY, ONE OF 25 UNCOLORED COPIES WITH PROOF PLATES PRINTED ON MOUNTED INDIA PAPER. Tooley states: "Large-paper impressions of the Oxford plates have an incomparably beautiful sheen, a suffused rich glow and 'bloom,' that is absent from ordinary copies."
