3 volumes. 4to (335 x 267 mm). [2], iv, 231; [2], vi, 239; [2], iv, 280, [6] pp. Sub-titles. 3 wood engraved titles, 3 engraved dedication leaves, and 104 hand-colored aquatint plates after Rowlandson and Pugin. Period full strait-grained red morocco, sympathetically rebacked with original spines laid down, gilt center and corner pieces, gilt spines, inner dentelles, and edges. Light spotting to prelims, offsetting from plates, bindings slightly rubbed.

FIRST EDITION, FIRST STATE of plates 1, 10, 11, 17, and 18, first state of Contents leaf in volume 1, and second state of text with only one item corrected from the Errata (Tooley knew of only a single copy with the entirely uncorrected first state). "One of the great colour-plate books ... the plates by Rowlandson and Pugin present an unrivalled picture of London in the early 19th century" (Tooley). Abbey Scenery 212; Tooley 7.
