Folio (313 x 195 mm). [4], 40, 31, [1], 17, [2] pp. Engraved frontispiece, additional title and 108 engraved vignettes (one to each fable). Period blindstamped calf. Repaired marginal tear to engraved title, margin torn from R2, some crude color to p 101, scattered minor browning/small stains, rebacked, covers scuffed and corners showing.
Provenance: Joseph Tabem (ex dono Thomas Huxley in 1718, inscription).

BARLOW'S FINEST WORK. The engraved frontispiece depicts the author among his animal characters. Hodnett Francis Barlow pp 167ff; Wing A-696.
