    Painted circa 1951 at Grant's rooms at 1 Taviton Street, just north of Gordon Square, Roche is reflected in a large mirror which appears in a number of Grant's work made at Taviton Street around this time. Note part of a reproduction of Matisse's Nasturtiums with the Painting "Dance" (now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York) in the top left hand corner of the work.
