With two vertical handles, the front of the vase with a moulded spout in the form of a lion's head, side (a) decorated with a draped seated female figure holding a casket and wreath, side (b) showing a female profile, palmettes underneath the handles and scrolling vegetal motif on the shoulder, the lid decorated with rays, 8½in (21.5cm) high, 4in (10cm) diam of the lid
