A large sgraffiato splashware pottery Bowl Egypt, 13th-14th Century
red clay body, the mustard slip with green splashes, incised with a central roundel scrolling motif, filled with and surrounded by bands of scrolling motif 32 cm. diam.
The dense scrolling motif can be found on two bowls in the Al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait (Watson, O., Ceramics From Islamic Lands, London, 2004, cat. R.18 and cat. R. 20, accession nos. LNS 856C and LNS 322 C)
This lot is accompanied by a thermolunescence test from Oxford Authentification sample no: N110c27) stating the date is between 600 and 1000 years old.
