Footnotes

  • The calligrapher is recorded as a nasta'liq scribe, a librarian at the Royal Library of 'Alamgir, and a teacher to Prince Kam-Bakhsh as well as other princes. He often copied Hafiz's Divan and was commissioned by the Emperor to copy one in a small nasta'liq hand. He died in Ahmad Negar in 1706. His recorded works are mainly calligraphic pages dated between AH 1082/AD 1671-72 and AH 1112/AD 1700-01. (See Mehdi Bayani, ahval va asar-e khosh-nevisan, vol. III, Tehran, 1348 sh., pp. 960-61).
