Arabic manuscript on paper, 18 leaves, 26 lines to the page written in neat maghribi script in black ink, significant sentences picked out in red ink, catchwords, numerous tables including letters and numbers, one illuminated rectangular headpiece in colours and gold, some staining affecting small areas of text, some repairs, later modern reddish-brown morocco with stamped central medallions and cornerpieces, spine slightly worn, 281 x 194 mm.; (B.) Abu 'Abdullah Muhammad bin Ahmad al-Masmudi, Risalah Silm al-Asfiya 'ila 'ilm al-Kimiya', a treatise on alchemy, Near East, probably Egypt or Syria, 18th Century, Arabic manuscript on cream-coloured paper, 15 leaves, 18 lines to the page written in clear naskhi script in black ink, the bismallah and significant words picked out in red, catchwords, in good condition, later modern brown morocco, somewhat worn, 194 x 128 mm.; (C.) Shihab-ad-Din Ahmad bin Yahya ibn abi Hajla, Anamuzaj al-Qital fi Naql al-'Iwal, copied by 'Abdullah bin 'Abdul-Rahman bin Muqbil al-Tamimi al-Basri, official scribe of al-Madrassah al-Rahmaniyah in Basra, for the Minister 'Ali Pasha of Baghdad, by order of Ibrahim Agha of Basra, Near East, Iraq, Basra, dated Dhu'l-Hijja 1218/March 1804, Arabic manuscript on paper, 27 leaves, 28 lines to the page written in clear naskhi script in brown ink, titles written in larger naskhi script, numerous diagrams outlined in red, catchwords, edges browned, inner margin repaired, boards of patterned paper, rebacked, worn and stained
