made in two separate sections, the lower with flaring banded skirt narrowing to the waist and flaring out to the square section rim, an inscription and date, the upper section with tubular neck, most of tinning remaining

    The inscriptions read: qad waqaf hadhihi al-sham'dam fi mahall chay jami' sahib khayrat wa'l-hasanat hamda khatun mutawalliya 'aliya imam muhammad efendi 1178[AH], "The benefactress Hamda Hatun, the exalted trustee of [the property] of Imam Muhammad Efendi, made this candlestick a waqf to the Cay Camii"

    There are Cay Camii in several cities in Turkey, including Kastamonu and an 18th Century mosque in Merzifon, which underwent restoration in AD 1772.
