Labelled faintly: Domenicus Montagnana, Sub S..., ... Venetiis 173... Length of back 354mm (13 15/16in) of a red golden brown colour, use wear and restorations, with an ivory mounted Violin Bow in the Baroque manner, in red canvas case. (3)

    In addition, offered with a dendrochronology report from Mr. John C. Topham, Surrey dated February 2012 stating the analysis of the spruce table of the above violin significantly cross matches tables of other important contemporary Venetian makers and the tablewood itself is of a date commensurate with the label date.
