    Churchill, as Vice-Patron of the British North Greenland Expedition, writes a typically inspiring message to the Expedition leader Colonel C.J.W. Simpson before his departure from Deptford, sending "best wishes for your wellbeing and success in the adventures and experiences which you are facing in the Arctic". Churchill additionally requests of Admiral Willis that he is kept "fully informed about their progress and exploits".
