POLAR AUTOGRAPHS
An autograph album containing the signatures of approximately 20 members of polar expeditions, on leaves in a small canvas autograph album, oblong 8vo, [c.1939]

Footnotes

  • The entry by Peter Scott is dated December 1939, and that by the Terra Nova Steward F.J. Hooper 26 August, 1939. The majority of the others relate to Terra Nova (Debenham, Simpson, Wright, Priestley, Armitage etc.), Endurance is represented by Worsley (who like some others identifies his various expeditions, in his case down to "Brigantine "Island" British Antarctic Expedition 1925), Hussey, How, as well as Webb from the Aurora, Bernacchi representing Discovery, someone from Scotia and Bagshawe form the Graham Land expedition of 1920-1922. One possibility is that these signatures (almost certainly collected at Southport), may relate to a gathering of the Antarctic Club.
