Footnotes

  • This is presumed to be a later bottling, perhaps taken from the same cask that supplied the Endurance and Quest expeditions. The label on the bottle reads: "This very rare old Dry Grande Champage Brandy has been specially selected by Sir Ernest Shackleton on account of its Medicinal Qualities as shewn by analysis for use on the S.Y. Edurance & S.Y. Aurora & throughout the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition".
