A George II silver salver
probably by John Robinson, London 1746
Shaped circular form, the wavy rim embellished with scallop shells, the centre engraved with a crest and later chased with c-scrolls, flowers and a house on a fish-scale ground, engraved 'P' over 'TM' to the underside and raised on three paw-feet; together with a pierced basket, by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd, London 1917, with fruiting vine rim, the sides with flowers and birds and three vacant c-scroll framed reserves, two shell salts, apparently unmarked, formed as scallop shells and raised on three ball feet, and a smaller example, by William Henry Leather, Birmingham 1893, a sauce boat, by James Dixon & Son Ltd, Sheffield 1943, conventional form with loop handle, raised on three pad feet, a small funnel, possibly by Thomas Austin, a two-handled strainer, by Lanson Ltd, Birmingham 1943, with pierced handles, a pair of George III salts, probably by John Bingley, London 1791, shaped rectangular form, bright engraved and raised on four tapering feet, with blue glass liners, a small dish, by Lanson Ltd, Birmingham 1943, twenty two teaspoons, varying makers, dates and designs, and twenty two plated examples, diameter of salver 22cm, diameter of basket 24cm, weight total 46.5oz.
