Tapering cylindrical form, the body later embossed with foliage, four oval reserves, two vacant and two embossed with flowers, the scroll handle with leaf heel, height 11.7cm; together with four other examples, one, by Samuel Welles, London 1760, baluster form, with leaf-capped scroll handle, later chased with c-scrolls and flowers and central vacant cartouche, gilt interior, height 12cm, another similar example, by George Smith II, London 1781, height 10.5cm, the third by Charles Thomas Fox & George Fox, London 1858, barrel form, embossed with flowering branches and butterflies on a matt ground, around a polished central cartouche engraved with a dedication, leaf-capped scroll handle, gilt interior, height 8.5cm and another, probably by Hillard & Thomason, Birmingham 1863, tulip form, engraved with flowers and husks within lozenge reserves, with leaf-capped beaded scroll handle, height 11.5cm, weight 39.5oz.
