A Austro-Hungarian silver serving set
by Alexander Sturm, Vienna, 1872-1922
Each with scroll band to stems and handles, comprising: two serving spoons, two pairs of fish servers and two sifter spoons, the gilt pierced bowls formed as shells, the knives with silver blades; together with two 19th century French silver beakers, the first maker's mark initials "LJ" flanking a diagonal cross and two vertical pellets, with 1838-78 Minerva head, of tapering cylindrical form, engraved with flowers and butterflies and a central scene depicting a man and woman sitting underneath a tree by a river, gilt interior, the second, maker's mark indistinct, and 1838-78 Minerva head, tapering cylindrical form, applied with poppy-like flowers and engraved with a monogram, weight 34oz.
