GARRARD: A cased 22 carat gold and enamelled Cadbury's 'Conundrum' egg
maker's mark for Garrard & Co. Ltd, London 1983
Ovoid form engraved and enamelled in translucent blues and greens, depicting the Manx cat, enamelled with orange, Laxey's wheel, all below clouds, Ballalona Fairy Bridge with pink enamelled fairies, Viking men and stylised strolling figures, also depicted in the verse and illustration is Tynwald Hill, the church of St Trinian's near Crosby, the Snaefell mountain course and the village of Maugold, weight total 268gms.

  • Together with Conundrum paperback book - The Cadbury's Creme Egg Mystery book by Don Shaw, and illustrated by Nick Price, released in 1983.
    The book composed of twelve paintings and accompanying verses containing clues to the whereabouts of Twelve buried caskets. When found these caskets contained a 'certificate of ownership' with a telephone number which the finder called to claim a 22 carat gold egg created by Garrard.

    The Isle of Man was the twelfth mystery in the book.
    Testing people's knowledge of the Island's geography and history, myth and language.
    A roundabout cryptic tour took in Tynwald Hill, St Trinian's, Snaefell, and finally Maughold ("more gold"). The resting place of a soldier in Maugold churchyard,
    (This soldier was Robert Charles Crellin DCM of the Royal Artillery, Son of Robert and Edith Crellin, husband of Ethel Crellin, of Kirk Maughold)
    The final clue indicated the casket was buried on the other side of the wall from his headstone, just outside the cemetery.
