Oval form with bark-like textured surface and polished band, opening to reveal the open-mouthed quivering head of an oxidised hippo bursting through a silvered ground; together with two other examples, the first, London 1975, numbered 68, with textured surface and polished band, opening to reveal two enamelled butterflies, one quivering, sitting atop a silver-gilt and oxidised bed of flowers, the second, London 1976, numbered 68, with feathered surface and polished band, opening to reveal a robin perched on a gilt branch among green enamelled leaves feeding its chicks in a nest below, height of each egg approx. 7cm.
