An impressive late 19th/early 20th century Chinese export pierced silver bowl
by Wang Hing, also stamped '90' with character mark
Circular tapering form, the body pierced and cast with confronting dragons among clouds, with central sun-burst cartouche engraved 'Presented to Major General Wodehouse C.B.C.M.C by Lieut Col Teversham D.S.O and Officers 3rd M.L.I, China 1900-01', on a skirting foot pierced in a similar manner, diameter 24.5cm, weight 30.5oz.

- Major General J.H Wodehouse had an illustrious career with the British Army during the last quarter of the 19th century. Most notably he served in the South African War in 1879, the Afghan War 1879-80, the Egyptian Exhibition 1884, the Soudan Exhibition 1884-85 and was in command of the 3rd Brigade on the North Western Frontier of India 1897-98.
Lieutenant Colonel R.K Teversham served in the Indian Army, noted for leading the Burmese Expedition 1885-7.
