A 19th century Danish silver tankard
maker's marks 'PH' in an oval punch
In the 17th century style, cylindrical form, the hinged lid with raised central reserve engraved with laurel fronds and a dedication, with scroll foliate border, the thumbpiece formed as a salient lion with its front paws resting on a ball, with shell capped beaded scroll handle applied with escutcheon heel, the body with engraved monogram and chased with stylised acanthus leaf embellished foliate scroll decoration, each with applied feet formed as pomegranates below, with prick-dot engraving to body and dated '1887' to underside, height 16cm, weight 17oz.
