A George III silver snuff box
by William Pugh Birmingham, 1813
Bright-cut engraved incurved rectangular form, the hinged lid and base with floral decoration, the cover inscribed "Thou Shalt Not Steal", the sides with zig-zag border; together with another bright-cut example by William Neale & Son, Sheffield, 1898, rounded rectangular form, the top engraved with foliate scrolls and with hinged compartment to one side, the other with oval cartouche inscribed "H.G.F from E.T.N.F 6.2.1918 - 6.2.1943", the base with scrolling leaf filled lozenges, length of first 4.6, the other 5.3cm, weight 2oz. (2)
