  • Jane was the only child of William Hyde (b.1775), a corn merchant in Exeter, and his wife Sarah. She married Richard Lewin Pennell (1793-1873) of Devon, with whom she had twelve children, three of whom died in infancy: Henry, seen in lot 78 (1823-1828), Elizabeth Rebecca (1824-1841), Mary (1826-1891), Richard Lewin (1827-1872), George Brice (1829-1912), Edward Hyde (1831-1884), Agnes Jane (1833-1906), Thomas Grier (1835-1836), Florence Sarah (1836-1838), Gertrude (1838-1923), Reginald (1840-1907) and Arthur (1841-1911).
