Pierre Noel Violet (French, 1749-1819)
A portrait of the artist's daughter, Cecilia Ferriere (née Violet) (1797-1880), in profile to the left, wearing white dress edged with blue lace, blue fichu knotted and crossed over her chest, her brown hair worn short, softly curling and dressed with a pale blue bandeau.
Watercolour on paper, signed on the obverse and dated Violet fte 1802, rectangular wood frame with gilt edges, inscribed to the reverse a daughter of/ Monsieur Violet (artist) & Refugee from the French/ Painted by her Father 1802. Bought from him by C.J.
