Footnotes

  • Jamie was the eldest son of James Campbell of Petershill and Bedlay and Agnes Grahame. He married Catherine, daughter and heiress of John Craig of Auchinairn. Jamie's only surviving child, Catherine, succeeded to both Petershill and Bedlay since her uncle Alexander, the proprietor of Bedlay and Jamie's younger brother, had died without issue. Catherine married Thomas Craig Christie.

Jamie served under Arthur Wellesley (1769-1852), then Major General and later Duke of Wellington, in India at the Battle of Assaye in 1803.
