John Field (British, 1772-1848)
A bust-length silhouette of a Lady, profile to the right, wearing décolleté dress edged with lace, her hair upswept and piled high on top of her head.
Painted on ivory and bronzed, signed under the truncation Miers, gold frame, the reverse glazed to reveal plaited hair set with gilt-metal monogram GW; together with a bust-length silhouette of a Gentleman, profile to the left, wearing coat, waistcoat, chemise, stock and cravat, his wig clubbed and tied with a ribbon bow (English School, circa 1770), painted on porcelain, gold frame with brooch-clasp attachment to the reverse.
Oval, 35mm (1 7/16in) and navette, 38mm (1 8/16in) high respectively (2)
