Military Cross, G.V.R.; 1914-15 Star (2503 L.Cpl N.Ryder. L.N.Lan:R.); British War and Victory Medal (Major N.Ryder.). With a Lancashire and Cheshire Coal Owners Rescue Station silver medal, engraved on reverse (Norman Ryder). With an unrelated 1969 Investiture medallion. Extremely fine. (6)

    For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in recuing and attending to the wounded in his battery on two occasions when under heavy shell fire. His coolness and promptness in arranging for their removal set a splendid example to all, and had a most excellent effect upon the discipline and morale of his battery.
