Gold medal, 58mm diam., bust left crowned and veiled VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX, R.Enthroned figure of Empire, facing, flanked by standing figures of Science, Letters and Art, opposite those of Industry and Agriculture, r. At their feet, below Empire, are Mercury, reclining, and Time. Above two cherubs displaying shields inscribed MDCCCLXXXVII AND MDCCCXXVII, and V.R.I. in a wreath, between IN. COMMEMORATION Ex Five linked shields, inscribed ASIA AMERICA EUROPE AUSTRALASIA and AFRICA (Eimer 1733a; BHM 3219). Very light hairlines, otherwise extremely fine. (1)
