Somerset:L.I.); British War Medal (4183 Pte.J.Connor. Som.L.I.); India General Service 1908-35, one bar, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 (4183 Pte.J.Connor, Som.L.I.); Army Long Service and Good Conduct, G.V.R. (4183 Bndsmn: J.Connor. Som:.L.I.). Some light wear and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine. (Lot)

Footnotes

  • Bandsman James Connor was born in Leicester and his trade at enlistment was Musician. He enlisted aged 14 in August 1894 and was appointed Bugler on 18.1.1895. He served in South Africa from 22.9.1900 to 30.4.1903, he then returned home. He then served in Malta from 5.11.1908 until 16.9.1911, then he went to North China from 17.9.1911 until 21.10.1913, he then is noted as being on the Voyage as Indo:Col:Relief from 22.10.1913 to 21.11.1913 and serving in India from 22.11.1913 to 6.8.1919. He served on the North West frontier from 7.8.1919 to 28.8.1919. He finally serves at home from 29.8.1919 to 26.9.1919, having served a total of 25 years and 54 days. He suffered from Pneumonia and Malaria for a number of times. Sold with copied papers confirming Boer War Medal entitlement and MIC confirming BWM only for WW1. He gets his LSGC in April 1913.
