Gwalior Star 1843, with Maharajpoor 1843 centre, engraved (2 Lieutt McNeill 4th Battn H.D. 3rd Compy Artillery); Sutlej 1845-46, with Ferozeshuhur reverse, one bar, Sobraon (Lieut D:McNeill 3rd Brigade H:Ay.); Indian Mutiny 1857-58, one bar, Lucknow (Capt Donald McNeill, 2nd Bn Bengal Art.); with another Indian Mutiny 1857-58, one bar, Lucknow (Captn McNeill, Attd Goorkha Force); Turkish Crimea, Sardinian issue; Turkey, Order of Medjidie, fourth class breast badge in gold, silver and enamel; France, Legion of Honour, Knight's breast badge (reverse centre absent); Germany, Prussia, Order of the Red Eagle, Knight's breast badge; Germany, Prussia, Order of the Crown, Commander's neck badge, in silver-gilt and enamel; With a Scottish Naval and Military Academy Medal, the reverse engraved (Junr Mathematics 1st Prize Mr Donald McNeill 26th July 1839, with two extra bars for Latin and Junr Arithmetic. The reverse of the first has been altered for wear with suspension, otherwise toned good very fine. (10)

    Served in the Gwalior Campaign of 1843-44 and present at the Battle of Maharajpore; served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46 and present at the battles of Ferozeshuhur and Sobraon. Served with Brigadier Wheeler's Force and present at the capitulation of Kot Kangra, in May 1846. Served during the Punjab campaign of 1848-49 in Command of a Contingent of Native Artillery attached to the Nusseeree Battalion in the Mukwal Dhoon. Served on the Dehra Jat Frontier 1850-52 and in the Expeditionary Force against the Scinde Ameer Ali Moorad in the Spring of 1852. Served with the Turkish Contingent during the Crimean War 1855-56. On the conclusion of the war was selected by Major General Michel to conduct a Brigade of Turkish Troops from Kertch to Varna. He received the 4th Class Order of Medjidie and Turkish Crimean medal. Served in the Oude campaign from 1857-58 and was present at the several affairs during the advance of the Goorkha Force under Maharajah Jung Bahadorr. Present during the siege and capture of Lucknow in March 1858. He was mentioned in despatches and received special thanks from His Excellency the Governor Genral in Council.
