1914-15 Star trio (144926. Spr.J.H.Lanyon, R.E.). Pair to Private S.Lanyon, King's shropshire Light Infantry, late Gloucestershire Yeomanry, British War and Victory Medal (38830 Pte.S.Lanyon. Glouc.Yeo.); Memorial Plaque (Stanley Lanyon). Pair to Private F.Lanyon, Army Veterinary Corps, British War and Victory Medal (SE-20287 Pte.F.Lanyon. A.V.C.); Memorial Plaque (Frederick Lanyon). With scrolls for both, and minor assorted medalets etc and photographs. Memorial Plaque (William Gomer). The plaques both drilled and heavily polished, the scrolls very tired, otherwise very fine. (Lot)

Footnotes

  • Stanley Lanyon enlisted at St.Day, Cornwall. He was killed in action on 4.9.1918 and is buried in the Wytschaete Military Cemetry, whilst serving with the 1/1st Herefords, formerly 57023 Devon Regiment. His MIC confirms him serving with the Gloucester Yeomanry.

    Frederick Lanyon was born at Gwennop, Cornwall, he enlisted at Redruth. He died in Salonika on 30.11.1916, aged 22, and is buried in the Salonika (Lembet Road) Military Cemetry.

    William Gomer was born at Weare Giffard, Devon, he enlisted at Barnstaple and was killed in action on 22.3.1918 whilst serving with 126 Field Company, Royal Engineers. He is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
