  • Richard Lonsdale Lawson was born on 13.12.1826 and lived in Kirkdale, Lancashire, he was with the Indian Navy 1856/7, he had gained a Master's certificate by 1852. In 1861 he appeared as a boarder with a watch maker named Harrison at 36 Great George Square, Liverpool. He succumbed to bronchitis on 25.6.1867 while at sea on the ship Affghan.

    The Planet was an iron river steamer built in 1840, it had two guns and was 397 tons. It was part of the Indus Flotilla and involved in the conquest of Sindh province.
