Footnotes

  • The reverse is cast with five inscriptions, including one dating the piece to the spring of the fifth year of the Daoguang reign, corresponding to 1826, for the use of offerings in the Ganlu temple in Zhejiang Province; auspicious inscriptions with meanings of 'happiness and longevity' and 'wealth'; the temple bell as the Hanshan bell and a seal mark.
    A further inscription on the base indicating it was cast by an official named Xin Chunquan.
