The central splat inlaid with a rectangular hardstone below a further rectangular cartouche decorated with a taotie carved in shallow relief; together with two brocade pillows. 100cm (39 3/8in) high (3).

  • Provenance: purchased by Lady Enid de Chair in China in June 1930 from a warehouse in Shanghai, whilst travelling back to the UK with her husband Admiral Sir Dudley de Chair, who had been serving as Governor of New South Wales.
