  • According to family tradition, this robe was received by Colonel Park of The Black Watch [Royal Highland Regiment], who served with the British/European Expeditionary Force, in 1900 as a gift from the Emperor of China, as a sign of gratitude for his assistance in the suppression of the Boxer Rebellion. The robe subsequently passed by descent to Colonel Park's daughter and thence by gift and descent to the present owner.
