A waterline model of the Passenger ferry SS Saint Columba 1912
Built by J Garven Wood in 1991. Composite hull, painted black to the waterline with a white superstructure. Cream decks with inscribed plank lines. Details include passenger benches and ship's boats on davits. Set on a painted, moulded sea in an acrylic case. 36.5x8.5x11ins. (93x22x28cm)

Footnotes

  • Built by Denny Brothers, Dunbarton, for Turbine Steamers Ltd. and originally called Queen Alexandra. During WW1 she rammed and sank a U boat. She was acquired by MacBraynes in 1935 and was renamed Saint Columba the following year, when she was given a third (dummy) funnel. She remained in service until 1958.
