Footnotes

  • MV Erodona was an oil tanker, built for the Anglo Saxon Petroleum Company Limited, London, and launched in 1937. In 1941, whilst taking part in Convoy HX112, she was torpedoed by U110 off Iceland. Although one tank caught fire and 36 lives were lost, the vessel did not sink and she was towed into Reykjavik, subsequently having a new stern section fitted and returning to service. She was broken up at Rosyth in 1959.
