A rare White Star Line demitasse saucer.
By Spode Copeland, pattern Rd.No. 580303. Decorated in Cobalt blue and gilt glaze, with the monogram for the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company in the centre. The base marked for Stonier & Co. and stamped "White Star Line". 5ins. (13cm)diam.

Footnotes

  • The registration number dates from 1911 and this pattern would have been employed by White Star Line on the Olympic class liners, Olympic, Titanic and Britannic and may have been in use until the Olympic was broken up in 1935 at the time of the merger with Cunard. Never very common, this expensive pattern was likely employed in luxury suites and VIP lounges.
