    In a letter from the Royal Commission for the International Fine Arts Exhibition, to be held in Rome in 1911, Sir Edward John Poynter PRA RWS(1836-1919), as Chairman of the Commission, requests the present work to be used in the exhibition. While other works by MacBeth did appear in this exhibition, this work was not included.
