Footnotes

  • This bracket is modelled after a design attributed to John Cheere. The original design formed one of a pair, the pendant bracket depicting Apollo wearing a laurel crown and holding a lyre. The original brackets formed part of William Windham's furnishings of the Cabinet room at Felbrigg Hall, Norfolk and hung either side of the bay window. Cheere's design was influenced by the French style typified by the work of Jacques Caffieri (1678-1755).
