An early 19th century Empire gilt bronze timepiece encrier
modelled as Cupid emerging from a sheaf of wheat, holding his bow and an arrow having retrieved them from within, the corn ears and his body forming the removable lid, flanked by an inkwell and a pounce pot and two small urns for nibs, the enamelled dial set in the sheaf of wheat, with Arabic numerals, on an oval base applied with grapes and vines, above four toupie feet, fitted with a watch movement, 18.5cm high
