A pair of Edwardian satinwood, tulipwood crossbanded and polychrome decorated side cabinets
by Waring & Gillow, in the Sheraton revival style
with boxwood and purplewood stringing, each with a pierced galleried and quarter veneered top with a bowfront centre, above a tablet inlaid frieze centred with an inlaid oval, over a quarter veneered door (locked) with a painted roundel to the centre depicting a classical maiden and a cherub within a rural scene, flanked by two interlaced and rosette headed astragal glazed panelled doors (locked), enclosing adjustable shelves, on six square tapering legs terminating in spade feet, the reverse of one cabinet with a plaque bearing: 'WARING & GILLOW, By appointment to the King, 8 RUE GLUCK, PARIS..' 156cm wide x 45.5cm deep x 98.5cm high, (61" wide x 17.5" deep x 38.5" high) (2)
